 The U.S. Army
Medical Command, headquartered at Fort Sam Houston, San Antonio, Texas, has some 25,000 soldiers and 28,000
civilian employees located throughout the world. The Army Medical Command has major
subordinate commands to manage development, health promotion and preventive
medicine, and veterinary functions. All U.S. Army Medical Command hospitals are
accredited to the same standards as U.S. civilian hospitals by the Joint Commission on
Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations. Our vision is to be a National leader

On October 1, 1998, the Department of the Army centralized its
external recruitment and delegated examining functions for medical positions at the
Northeast Civilian Personnel Operations Center (NECPOC), Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD. The
Medical Cell performs recruitment and examining of applicants for civilian positions in a
variety of medical occupations.
